Slimmer Julie’s new role

AFTER struggling with her weight since her teens, Julie Missin from Elm has been given a new lease of life after so far losing two stone in weight and is now about to help others.

Julie (pictured right) is now a Slimming World consultant and will be taking over the Upwell group from June 9 which meets at the Methodist Church on Thursdays at 7.30pm.

Julie was spurred into losing weight after a family holiday in Yorkshire proved the wake-up call she needed to begin a healthier lifestyle.

“I was the heaviest I had ever been and walking up and down the hills left me breathless and uncomfortable. Watching my daughter playing on the beach with my partner with tears in my eyes because I was too self conscious made me realise enough was enough,” said Julie.

Once back home, Julie looked up her nearest Slimming World group and went to Upwell.

“I was lucky as my partner had some weight to lose too so he came with me as support,” she said, adding everyone at the group was friendly.

Now two stone lighter in 24 weeks, Julie is confident of reaching her target. She is taking over the Upwell group from Vanessa Read.

To people in the same position, Julie says: “Don’t be nervous. Upwell is a great group. We are all in the same boat - even me and we will be there to help and support you all the way.”
