SMALLHOLDER magazine and its editor Liz Wright from Wimblington have had a national boost after a slot on two consecutive BBC breakfast shows with Chris Evans.
The magazine got its national slot thanks to a sharp-eared contributor and a quickly sent free copy.
On March 16 Chris Evans had a guest talking about livestock keeping and long-time Smallholder contributor Janice Houghton Wallace, heard it while feeding her exhibition chickens and turkeys.
Hoping to give some expert advice after hearing a guest suggest keeping Brahmas, an Indian breed of chicken, she wrote in to the programme.
Janice got in touch with Liz and a copy of Smallholder was sent to the BBC breakfast studio.
Before long, Liz heard from a friend that Chris was flicking through the magazine live on air and comparing articles with one of his favourite classic car magazines.
Said Liz: “I heard that Chris had received his copy of Practical Classics while his wife had received her copy of Smallholder magazine.”
There was a magazine ‘face off’ with Smallholder the winner.
Later on in the afternoon Liz received a phone call asking her to be a mystery guest on the show.
