The crew at Manea on-call fire station welcomed dozens of residents to the local village pub to have their vehicles washed by the firefighters.
The event on Saturday (September 28) raised £210 for The Fire Fighters
Charity, which provides support, rehabilitation and care for fire service personnel across the country. The crew also staged a recruitment event at the same time, to encourage residents living within 5 minutes of the station to consider becoming an on-call firefighter.
Martin Brown, Station Commander at Manea Fire Station, said: “It was a great turnout by local residents and we had people queuing up along the street.
“A big thank you to the Rose and Crown for having us and to the many motorists who came out to support this worthwhile charity.
“We spoke to lots of people about joining the service and would encourage anyone who is thinking about becoming an on-call firefighter in Manea to get in touch with our recruitment team.”
