FIVE companies made a presentation to the Friends of North Cambs Hospital on Wednesday following a fundraising event.

The collective group of companies – who have called themselves ‘Spanners, Sparks and Spares’ as a play on the business types – raised £1,091.

The cash was raised through donations and raffles held at a joint Christmas party.

The companies who took part are Alibulk of Wisbech, Burley Fluid and Air of Wisbech, Priden Engineering (Tank division) of Wisbech, Truckweld of Gorefield and The Welding Centre of Wisbech.

This is the third time most of the companies involved have done a joint fundraiser.

Last year, the chosen charity was Magpas and their donation helped save the life of a young tree surgeon who was involved in a horrific accident at Guyhirn.

The year before, the businesses raised money for the Macmillan and Hudson Palliative Care Centre, based at North Cambs Hospital.
