PULLING up at Sacrewell Farm and Country Centre on July 21 and 22 are some remarkable miniature steam engines.
Over 40 polished and primed traction engines will be on show at the Miniature Steam Engine Rally.
Visitors will have the chance to discover more about traditional steam engineering practices at this ever popular event.
As part of the weekend, Peterborough’s Model Boat Club will be exhibiting a variety of hand-made, power driven sailing boats including miniature tug boats and war ships and Peterborough Model Engineering Society will have a display in the Stone Barn. In addition to this there will be a Grand Parade at 2.30pm each day.
Plus there will be the opportunity to take part in a bumper schedule of fun-filled activities. In addition to feeding the friendly animals, children will be able to cheer on their favourite lamb in the Queen Elizabeth Jubilee Stakes, enjoy a bumpy tractor and trailer ride, meet the Rangers for a Pet Talk, and have a go at Pond Dipping and Pony Grooming.
Why not take part in the Duck Race (using rubber ducks!) down by the 18th century Watermill? The ducks will start in the calm of the Mill Pond, before taking the plunge down through the rapids and under under the bridge, before popping out past the finish line at Pooh Sticks Bridge.
Whether you want to visit for the day or enjoy an extended stay on the Farm’s charming campsite, you’ll find plenty to entertain the whole family whatever the weather! There’s friendly farm animals for you to meet, including magnificent Shire horses, friendly donkeys, rarebreed Saddleback piglets and baby calves.
Don’t forget the Farm has held its prices for 2012, meaning that it’s a great value day out for the whole family. Normal farm admission applies and includes entry to the Minature Steam Rally. Please note free entry to the shop and restaurant is not available on this weekend. Some activities may incur a small additional charge.
The Farm is located just off the A1/A47 and is open every day from 9.30am-5pm. Sacrewell Farm & Country Centre, Thornhaugh, Peterborough PE8 6HJ. For more information, call 01780-782254 or visit www.sacrewell.org.uk
