A CHATTERIS couple have been reunited with their stolen ‘Ironwork’ sign.
Last month, the Citizen highlighted the theft of around £2,000 worth of items, including some rare cast iron objects taken during a series of raids on their property at Pound Road.
The couple offered a reward and pointed out, some of the stolen items were distinctive.
In a letter to the Citizen, the couple, who were not identified, said:
“Thanks for running the item on the theft of ironwork etc. This a line to let you know that as a result, the Police have recovered our Ironwork sign.
“We were pleased to see it again, though I must say that our main goal was to try to have the thieves identified and put a stop to their activities.
“I do most sincerely hope that our combined efforts have helped the Police, particularly given the possible horrendous results of such crime, as shown on the Citizen front page.” This refers to the gas explosion which devastated a bungalow at Leverington.
The cause was blamed on the theft of copper piping resulting in the gas leak.
