Gordon England (89) has had his mobility scooter stolen from under its locked cover on the driveway of his home.

A March pensioner has been left stranded after his mobility scooter was stolen.

Gordon England (89) relied on the scooter to get around but it was taken from a locked car port in Maple Grove overnight on Monday, August 5.

He said: “I have only had the scooter since January. I use it now because the weather is right. I like to see a bowls match, have a ride around town, I can go to the doctors if I need to.”

Mr England was left very upset by the theft and now has no way of getting around independently. He was left needing a scooter after health problems affected his mobility.

The maroon Sapphire LS2 scooter was insured but it will take time to sort out a replacement.

He is also worried in case the culprit makes a habit of stealing scooters, as there are many elderly and vulnerable people in the town who use them. He does not want someone else to suffer at the hands of the thief or thieves.

PCSO Rachael Cheverton said: “I’d like to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area or has been offered this scooter for sale.

“A man, described as white, six foot, medium build, in his 20s and wearing dark trousers, a tracksuit top and cap was seen in the area and we would urge him to come forward as he may have information which could assist with our enquiries.

“The elderly man is extremely upset as he has lost his means of getting around.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
