A bungee jump is not something you would expect to see in the middle of Walsoken, but that was exactly what happened on Sunday.

Daredevils jumped from a crane at the Blackbear pub to raise money for charity as part of an afternoon of fundraising.

“It was absolutely fantastic,” landlord Joe Hill said. “We had 23 jumpers and raised just over £5,000. My son Wes organised the crane and he was the first one to jump!”

The money raised is going to Addenbrooke’s Ward C10, in memory of Jack Thulborn, East Anglian Air Ambulance and children’s cancer charity Clic Sargent.

Joe and his wife Debbie said: “We would like to sincerely thank all the helpers and staff and everyone who came along.”

The money will be added to the year’s fundraising by the Blackbear. The total pot will be split and presented to the charities later in the year.
