WISBECH Town Team is looking to hold a summit meeting later in the year with the town’s societies, clubs and groups.
Wisbech has more than 250 groups and the Town Team is hoping to reach out to them in a bid to coordinate activities and funding applications.
The aim is to provide an informal platform for groups to discuss funding applications and, where possible, avoid duplication to ensure the Town Team does not apply for the same funding.
In some cases, a combined effort between groups could even make for stronger funding applications and this is something the summit will also explore.
Town Team has a number of experienced people within its ranks and is keen to ensure that this expertise is available to all groups. As a new group itself, the Town Team members are also keen to learn from other groups in Wisbech.
Over 250 groups have been identified and contacted to gauge their interest in attending the summit.
Any organisations who have been missed out and who would like to know more should contact Jaqui Fairfax on Jaqui@wisbechtownteam.org
The Town Team is still waiting to hear the results of its bid for funding to help regenerate the town centre under the Mary Portas pilot projects.
Response countrywide to the bids has been overwhelming and the results are expected this month.
The Team comprises residents, traders, business people and councillors and although it was formed initially to make the Portas bid, the members have vowed to continue whatever the Portas outcome.
