Children at Kingsfield Pre-School in Chatteris had a fruitful time on Thursday when they got to taste lots of different fruits and salads - but fortunately none of them had to suck on a lemon.
The town’s Co-op supermarket donated a range of different fruits for the youngsters to try from the exotic to the more mundane.
Fruits tried included figs, and mangos to seasonal plums and apples, as well as things like melon and pineapple and berries including strawberries.
Laura Cornwell, Room Leader, explained the older children were able to help cut up some of the fruit, while the younger ones chose different fruits to put in a bowl to taste.
“The children really enjoyed it, there were one or two funny faces when they tried the grapefruit because they thought it was sour,” said Laura, who said parents were very supportive of the event aimed to promote healthy eating.
