A local children’s charity has said thank you to kind hearted residents in Cambridgeshire after a church collection raised over £200.
The money, which was donated to Ormiston Children & Families Trust, was collected during the Christmas Service at the St John the Baptist Parish Church in Holywell cum Needingworth on Sunday 16th December. The funds will help Ormiston to continue “making young lives better” in the county. In Cambridgeshire the charity runs two Sure Start children’s centres in March and Chatteris, operates the Fenland Young People’s Housing Project and Fenland Playranger Service, and supports families affected by imprisonment and Gypsy and Traveller Communities.
Community Fundraiser for Cambridgeshire, Charlotte Garner, said: “We are so grateful to the St John the Baptist Church for choosing to from the money from the Christmas collection to Ormiston and to all those who attended the service and donated. We work with young people and families that are living on the edge of society and facing the threat of social exclusion; children do not choose the circumstances that they are born into, yet they are victimised for it on a daily basis. This money will help us to support those who are most at need in our county.”
Charlotte is now on the lookout for others who are interested in supporting Ormiston in some way, shape or form; whether it’s a community group thinking of putting on a charity event or somebody with spare time on their hands who would like to act as a volunteer fundraiser.
