Champagne was flowing at Wisbech’s new Tesco store when staff toasted a colleague’s 40 years of service.
Deli counter assistant Viv Clayton (56) celebrated the milestone in style on Tuesday.
Staff treated her to breakfast at the new Frankie and Benny’s restaurant, a cake, flowers, chocolates, jewellery and more.
Mrs Clayton, of Lynn Road, Wisbech, said: “They said I could have the day off after my breakfast, but I enjoy it so much there I wanted to stay.”
Mrs Clayton starting working for Tesco as a sales assistant when the store was located in the Market Place, where QD Stores now is.
The store then moved to its old Cromwell Road site, where she worked in the restaurant before taking up her current role in the deli 20 years ago.
Mrs Clayton, who plans to work for Tesco until her retirement, said: “I have really enjoyed working for the company all these years and I love everyone I work with. I’d like to say a big thank you to them for all my presents.”
