The trial of a detective accused of 12 charges of sexual assault against five women has been halted.

Det Sgt Matthew Swash, 40, from Cambridgeshire Police, will face a new trial at St Albans crown court on July 27 next year.

Judge Andrew Bright QC discharged the jury of 7 men at 5 women at St Albans crown court yesterday (Tuesday, November 25). He told them there had been problems for the defence with disclosure of material from the prosecution.

DS Swash, from Crown Close, March, denied 12 charges of sexual assault and two charges of misconduct in a public office allegedly committed between December 2009 and September last year.
