IF you have passed through the village of Emneth recently, you may have seen some of the residents acting very strangely.
They have been stripping off to raise much-needed funds for the ongoing facilities at Emneth Playing Field and are featuring in a calendar that will be on sale from Friday.
It was the brainchild of Jo Warren, who came up with the idea of a charity calendar featuring Emneth residents photographed in Emneth businesses, much in the vein of Calendar Girls but with men and women.
Tanya Bunting, vice-chair of Emneth’s Playing Field Committee said support from the village has been fantastic, particularly from the businesses who have given £700 in sponsorship.
She added: “The models really enjoyed themselves on their shoots at some weird and wonderful locations in the village. They were all great sports and we are very grateful to them.”
The photographer was Lara Gourley, who rose to the challenge despite being quite new to it.
Emneth playing field secured a grant from the Big Lottery Fund in July for £49,999 for a new play area, which is currently in progress. But fundraising is still needed for both the maintenance of current facilities and new projects.
The organisers are planning a launch night in the village for the calendar.
They will be available to buy from November 18 at the Spar, The Gaultree Inn, The Salon and Curtis the Butchers.
Alternatively they can be purchased from Tanya on 07790-992729 or Jo on 07743-419657.
