A WISBECH teenager off to fulfil her dream of attending a prestigious stage school has had a helping hand from her former amateur dramatic group.

Becky Willbye (16) will be starting at the Stella Mann College of Performing Arts in September. She received a cheque on Tuesday from WAODS (Wisbech Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society) to help her on her way.

She appealed in the Citizen earlier in the year for sponsorship, as she is not old enough to apply for a student loan. Her parents, Dean and Mary, need to find the money to cover course costs and accommodation for Becky to live in Bedford.

Louise Smart, from WAODS, said: “We are proud to help students follow their dreams by helping with sponsorship.”

Becky was a member of WAODS for several years and has studied with the Cynthia Maxey School of Dance since the age of three. She will be at Stella Mann for three years, studying various aspects of dance from ballet, tap and jazz to street.
