An organised gang may be behind an increase in tractor thefts in West Norfolk.
Six tractors have been stolen from farms and fields in areas which include Fenland, in less than two months. Police believe they may have been stolen to be exported.
The latest incident was in St John’s Fen End when a vintage tractor was stolen from a barn. The theft was the third of its kind to be reported in the borough in a week.
Thieves drove a Massey Ferguson from a field in Terrington St John and loaded it onto a trailer overnight on February 7. A tractor and trailer were taken from a barn in Wisbech Road, Outwell, between February 9 and 11.
Insp Mick Bates is warning farmers to be on their guard because he said older tractors might be seen as easier to steal from a security point of view.
