THE HAWKSLEY family have given the Macmillan and Hudson Palliative Care Centre a bumper boost.

The family have presented £900 to the centre, which is based at Wisbech’s North Cambs Hospital. Mum Pauline Hawksley, of Emneth, explained they have supported the centre following the death seven years ago of her husband Fred (68) who had bowel and bone cancer.

Pauline said Fred attended the centre and enjoyed his visits and taking part in the activities. She said the day centre is “fantastic”.

Son Daniel, of Wisbech, runs Three Holes Auction from Outwell Village Hall and Pauline explained this also raises money for the centre.

But the bulk of the £900 donation came from Daniel and Samantha’s wedding reception in November.

Instead of wedding gifts, the couple asked for donations which they auctioned for the centre at their reception.

This raised £625 and on top of this, a Christmas raffle and collection was held at Three Holes Auction which made a further £275.

The family want to thank everyone who gave a donation and took part in the auction and raffle.
