Wisbech & District Talking Newspaper has had a great start to 2014 with a huge donation to their digital format fundraising appeal, thanks to the generosity of The Rotary Club.

Following an appeal made by the Talking Newspaper at the end of 2013 the Rotary Club made a donation of £1,000 – half the amount the Newspaper needs to convert all its recordings to a digital format.

The group would also like to provide all its listeners with specialist playback equipment called BookBoxes.

Talking Newspaper’s press officer Isobel Shippey said: “We were completely overwhelmed by the generosity of the Rotary Club’s donation, we simply couldn’t believe it. It’s a great start to our appeal.

“We have received further donations from other groups and hope to reach our target of £2,000 very shortly.”

The Wisbech & District Talking Newspaper produces two one-hour issues of local news and one one-hour magazine of varied interest each month.
