Wisbech St Mary Primary School’s 31st annual bonfire and firework night went off with a whizz and a bang on Saturday night.
Crowds packed the popular event, which saw two displays by professional company, 1605 Fireworks. The bonfire was lit first with dazzling fireworks at 6.15pm and 7.30pm.
The event was organised by the Parent Teacher Friends Association and chairman Rebecca Lee said it is their main fundraiser for the school and is set to have made over £6,000.
Rebecca is concerned some visitors may have gone away after getting fed up queuing to get in due to the closure of a side gate and she is keen to make people aware steps have already been made to rectify this for next year.
As well as the fireworks, there were refreshments, a variety of side stalls, fairground rides for the children and prizes to be won on a raffle stall. There was also a disco.
The money raised helps to pay for extra school equipment, a visit to the panto and for groups coming into the school.
