WI members from the Isle of Ely Federation have enjoyed a day of planting.
The event saw 47 members from across the district come together at Doddington Village Hall for the session.
Margaret Sparrow, from Christchurch WI, said: “Our very first planting session was in October, where we covered winter planting, and members enjoyed it so much they wanted a follow-up. It went well and was a very informative day.”
Members enjoyed a demonstration from Maureen Rose, who came from Sutton, who explained about different plants you can use and gave advice on arranging them. She showed a black and orange display she had made.
A trip to Delflands Nursery, in Doddington, enabled the group to get all the plants they needed for their own displays.
It was then back to the hall to have a Ploughman’s lunch, provided by the committee, and an afternoon of planting.
Mrs Sparrow said everyone had been impressed with the quality of plants from Delfland in October and were hoping for the same life-span in their summer displays.
Members were able to take away their displays, with many women making them for their gardens.
