VOLUNTEERS organising the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Wimblington have now got the plans in place for a fantastic two days of celebrations.
There will be a free Senior Residents’ tea party on Sunday June 3 in the Parish Hall.
On June 4 there will be a free children’s party in the afternoon at Parkfield with bouncy castles, a magician and ice creams.
In the evening the free celebrations will be for all the family again at Parkfield, with a live band and hog roast. At about 10.30pm there will be the lighting of Wimblington’s official beacon - one of the 2012 beacons to be lit across the county.
The volunteers have been fortunate to receive grants from Fenland District Council, Wimblington Parish Council, and the Fisher-Parkinson Trust.
The organisers have worked to raise money themselves and have also succeeded in gaining sponsorship from local Wimblington based companies.
If you live in Wimblington, or your child attends school in Wimblington look out for notices around the village, at the school and in Wimblington News, to find out how you get your free tickets.
