Police are investigating an incident in which a mother and her son were assaulted in their car.

The 55-year-old woman and her 14-year-old son were travelling through Wimblington on the A141 at about 8pm on November 15 when they overtook a grey Ford Fiesta.

They then had to slow down for temporary road speed limits and the Ford Fiesta began driving close behind them.

The Fiesta was flashing its lights and the people inside it, two men and a woman, began trying to get out and confront the victim in slow traffic.

At the junction of Wisbech Road and Isle of Ely Way the traffic came to a stop. The woman got out of the car, started shouting at the victim and assaulted her through the car window.

One of the men also began shouting and assaulted the boy while his mother screamed for help. The other man banged on the car’s bonnet.

Both victims suffered minor injuries and were left very shaken. The offenders drove off towards Tesco, in Hostmoor Avenue.

The woman attacker is described as white, in her mid 20s, of large build, 5’5” and with dark brown hair. The first man is described as white, in his mid 20s, slim, 5’8” and wore a grey hooded top and grey tracksuit bottoms. The second was white and of large build.

DC James Bennett, who is investigating, said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victims and I am keen to identify all the people who were in the grey Fiesta. We know there were people around at the time who would have seen what was happening and I would urge them to get in touch.”

Anyone with information should contact DC Bennett on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
