Three members of staff from 1220 (March) Squadron Air Cadets recently furthered their hill walking experience after spending a weekend at the National Air Cadet Adventure Training Centre in Windermere.

The team spent a day on the fells in the Langdale Valley, where the junior members of staff were able to practice their navigation techniques.

While en-route, the team was able to test out satellite phones, which will be used later this year when other members of the squadron participate in an overseas expedition to the Ascension Islands.

The team also walked a short route from the Kirkston Pass up to Red Screes, where they used some scrambling techniques to get to the top.

1220 is currently recruiting. An open evening takes place on Wednesday, 5 February at 7.30pm at the squadron building and the intake night is on Tuesday, 11 February at 7pm. For further information, please visit www.1220atc.org.uk
