YOUNG artist Niamh Gates’ Diamond Jubilee logo design will be adorning the front of thousands of programmes.

Niamh (11), a pupil at Glebelands School in Chatteris, was the winner of a competition to design a logo for the Chatteris Historic Festival Jubilee Festival and her logo will appear on the cover of the programme.

Youngsters were invited to design a logo to represent the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. The entries were judged by the Mayor, Peter Murphy, Deputy Mayor, Florence Newell, and Town Crier James Carney.

Niamh’s colourful design was the overall winner and on Monday the Mayor presented her prize of an artist’s set.

This year’s Festival, a joint venture by Fenland District Council, Chatteris Town Council and volunteers from Chatteris, runs from June 1 to June 4 at Furrowfields Recreation Ground.

The organisers like to hear from anyone willing to help with stewarding duties during the Festival period.
