A Wisbech Grammar School pupil is set to rub shoulders with members of Parliament at a United Nations Day at the House of Commons.

Madelaine Booth, 16, has been invited to represent Lions Clubs International at the event on March 10 by district governor Kevin Rodgers.

Membership is open only to people aged 18 and over, but Madelaine was allowed to become an honorary member of Wisbech Lions Club last year and since then she has been involved in fund raising events.

She said: “I was shocked when I heard that I had been invited to take part. I was so amazed that they thought to choose me.”

Mr Rodgers said: “Madelaine is a good ambassador for young people in the community work that she does.”
