A Wisbech man has presented a £2,201.94 cheque to a cancer unit in memory of his late wife.

Tracy Bennington, 47, died in August after suffering breast cancer. Her husband Andy presented a cheque in her memory to thank staff at the Macmillan Centre at North Cambs Hospital. He said: “We are over the moon with the amount raised.

“My wife liked the relaxed atmosphere at the Wisbech centre. We were visiting it a lot through the later stages.

“It is nice to be able to give something back.”

Mrs Bennington, who had worked at the Etcetera Cafe in Wisbech for 15 years, had been suffering with back pain since Christmas.

She was diagnosed with the disease following a mammogram in February.

She died on August 7.

The money was raised during her funeral service.

Mr Bennington, along with family members, presented the cheque to palliative care staff nurses Lisa-Marie Ball and Jane Clarke and administrator at the centre, Alison Strickle.
