A police officer has been presented with an award to mark his work in tackling problems affecting Wisbech.
PC Dave Stevens, beat officer for Wisbech town centre, was presented with the District Commander’s Commendation by town mayor Michael Hill for his work in Medworth.
A significant reduction has been seen in reports of crime and anti-social behaviour, alcohol-related incidents and shoplifting in Medworth following the introduction of PC Dave Stevens last year.
He has arrested more than 70 suspects and has worked hard to build up relations with businesses and the community.
Coun Hill, who is also a ward member for Medworth, has praised PC Stevens for his work.
He said: “I think he has made a big difference to the area.
“PC Stevens has done a good job and a lot of people appreciate everything he is doing in the town centre.
“He is a very popular police officer.
“I think he is helping to clear up the area. People are more aware and they are not misbehaving when he is about.”
The award was presented at Wisbech Town Hall.
