The 3rd Wisbech Scouts joined many other veterans and youth groups on Remembrance Sunday during the town’s parade.
Scout Leader Helen Seims earlier this summer had taken part in a charity hike raising funds for The Fallen on the Frontline Walk. Using her scouting skills and dedication to hike over 100km in memory of her fallen Uncle Bertram Francis Wadlow, who was 18 when he died.
She said: “Last year Uncle Bertram was just a name on the memorial here in Wisbech and now I have gone full circle to find his final resting place in a Commonwealth War Grave to place a cross. Now on Remembrance Sunday I have done the same here in Wisbech we shall remember him and all his fellow soldiers who gave their live.”
During the world wars scouts played their part in the war efforts often being used as couriers and taking letters.
