The residents of Rose Lodge Care Home in Wisbech had some extra-special visitors in the shape of snakes, cockroaches and spiders.

Chris from Zoolab spent an afternoon at the Walton Road care home, showing residents some of its less cuddly animals.

Penny Heayberd, the activities co-ordinator at Rose Lodge, said that at least half of the residents were keen to handle the animals, but the others were still fascinated by what was on show.

Russell Tabor, who is 70 years old and a resident at Rose Lodge, is registered blind and was eager to experience the sensation of holding all the different animals.

He said it was the first time he had come into contact with such animals and he very much hoped he could experience it again soon.
