Wise up to the dangers of winter driving

Drivers can get a free ice scraper and save 10 per cent on the price of awinter essential car kit by visiting firefighters at Halfords in Huntingdon this Sunday (16).

Firefighters will be discussing road safety advice with motorists at Halfords inStukerley Road, Huntingdon, from 1.30pm to 4pm.

They will show motorists how to carry out basic winter checks on vehicles,such as checking tyre pressures, headlights, tyre depth, oil and water levels and wiper conditions. In addition they will be handing out free ice scrapersand also vouchers, which will give motorists 10 per cent off a winter essentialsix piece driving kit.

Will Collins, Watch Commander at Huntingdon Fire Station said: “It’s all too easy to forget to keep an eye on basic car maintenance, especially on cold,dark mornings or evenings when we are busy getting to and from work ordoing the school run.

“But in very poor weather a clean windscreen, working headlights and correcttyre pressure could mean the difference between staying save and having a serious collision. Its also really important to remember to allow extra breakingtime when driving in wet or icy conditions.”
