A STARK message has been given to people who flout the Horsefair’s no cycling rule.
A 60-year-old woman was knocked down by a cyclist at around 1.30pm today (Friday) in the Wisbech shopping centre.
The woman was coming out of the stairwell of the Horsefair car park when a man riding a pushbike came out of the car park and ploughed into her.
The impact knocked her several feet and left the front wheel of the bike buckled.
The woman was taken to hospital by ambulance and the Latvian cyclist was taken away by PCSOs.
Horsefair manager Kevin Smith said: “We have put extra no cycling signs up with pictograms so our foreign friends can read them, but it makes no difference. It isn’t just them – we get schoolchildren and other cyclists ignoring the rule as well. It needs a change in the byelaw so they can be fined. Otherwise they will just carry on doing it.”
