CONGRATULATIONS to Olivia Carpenter on becoming the new March Gala Princess and to her attendant Lucie Cross.
As the organiser, I look forward to these lovely local girls leading the Festival Parade on Saturday June 11 as part of their VIP day as guests of the Lions and to mark the official opening of the festival weekend.
They will have some cosmopolitan company this year because as well as the Caledonian Pipe Band from Peterborough, we have a Brazilian Style Samba Band from Cambridge and Bernese Mountain Dogs from March plus of course, many local community groups and dancers for what will be a really fun day for all the family.
In addition, we have the Skoulding and Mallett Trophies which will be awarded to the best Group and Individual in the parade respectively.
The parade leaves the City Road Car park at 12.30pm and will follow a police controlled route through the town and back to City Road.
We are still looking for stewards to help with the parade on the day. Anyone who thinks they can help is asked to come to a meeting in the park on June 9 at 6.30pm.
Your help with this community event will be much appreciated.
