THE article by Chris Judge (Citizen Nov 9) about the problems facing Estover Park Playing Fields Association is in stark contrast to one about FDC councillors voting themselves 8.5 percent increase in their allowances.
Something which is going to cost the council taxpayer an extra £26k a year, which is more than the total grant fund for groups in March.
It’s coming to something when an active community group promoting sport and healthy living finds it may go to the wall for the sake of a couple of thousand pounds because the council has progressively cut its meagre funding.
However, at the same time the councillors themselves are feathering their own nests when everyone else is suffering cuts of one sort or another.
Come on FDC let’s have less wringing of hands and a bit more sacrificing of personal gain for the sake of a deserving cause.
