I HAVE heard that permission has been given for a public clock to be removed and subsequently sold.
The clock is cantilevered out from the first floor window on a building opposite the post office in Wisbech’s Bridge Street.
I am appalled if that is the case and I am not aware that there has been any public consultation about it.
The responsible authorities should be reminded that the clock was gifted to the town in perpetuity.
It has been stopped for some years but it is not beyond capability for it to be re-started.
Its time keeping was always excellent.
