REGARDING the problems late at night with the car park at Furrowfields, Chatteris.
I totally agree with the resident (Citizen March 21 “Calls for action over car park”) who is calling for it to be locked at night.
Fenland Council, who say that ‘it would be wrong and impractical to penalise everyone’, obviously have not been to Soham where the car park next to the church is locked at night to prevent this sort of anti-social behaviour.
Most people use the car park to go shopping or visit businesses in the town centre and at night, these are closed so I am sure no-one would be inconvenienced if it was locked.
There is plenty of street parking available at night for anyone who needs it.

• Editor’s note: The police have responded to last week’s story saying: “We are aware of residents’ concerns regarding the anti-social use of vehicles in the Furrowfields area.
“We regularly patrol the area and the car park and work with CCTV to identify any motorists driving in an anti-social manner. We have issued several section 59 notices to drivers warning them of their conduct.
“The issue has decreased dramatically over the past 12 months and we will continue to monitor the situation.
“Anyone with any concerns should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.”
