Part-time work issues

Have your say

IT’S hardly surprising that 1,500 people have applied for 250 jobs with one employer (Morrisons) in Wisbech (Citizen, August 24).

Earlier this year they internally recruited management and announced general job vacancies via Job Centre Plus etc. It is therefore assumed all full-time jobs have already been taken. The problem I have with modern part-time work is that it’s 16 hours a week and 8 hours guaranteed which relates to holiday pay entitlement.

The other crux of pay time is your 22 days holiday includes statutory bank holidays which you have to book off, otherwise you’re expected to work them and weekends.
