Plaque was unveiled by mother

ON behalf of the Norfolk Street Traders’ Association in Wisbech, I am writing to correct a mistake in the issue of Fenland Citizen (December 21).

It is true that the Mayor, Jonathan Farmer, opened Norfolk Street for the Christmas Market but after that, Debbie Jacklin’s plaque was unveiled by her mother June, who ran June’s Pet Foods in Norfolk Street before her retirement earlier this year.

June was accompanied by Debbie’s sister Julie and quite a few of Debbie’s family attended.

Councillor Simon King gave a short tribute to Debbie, saying how shocked the street was at her sudden death in June, how much she had contributed to Norfolk Street by her enthusiasm and good ideas for the Christmas Market and Rose Fair and by her friendship and support to everybody.

She was the chairperson of our traders’ association for the last few years, following on from Ray Johnson.

We all still miss her.

MAGGIE WELFORD

Secretary of the Norfolk Street Traders’ Association
