In recent months I have noticed large amounts of mud being deposited both on the roads and passing vehicles from the continuous flow of tractors to and from the Mepal Quarry on the A142.

What happened to the days when tractors cleaned their vehicles before entering the public highway? It appears there is a total disregard for road safety. At one stage the road was more akin to a mud track than a major highway. Such was the concern the instance was reported to the local police. The road has been washed but all the mud is now pushed to the sides blocking surface water drainage and causing further road safety hazard in wet conditions. You cannot always see the slippery road signs as these can be covered with so much mud that they are not legible. The highway authorities cannot allow this to continue, it is only a matter of time before a serious accident occurs.
