I support the East Anglia Branch of Railfuture, which is calling for the re-opening of the Wisbech-March rail link.
As reported in the Citizen, the branch recently presented its 2,907 petition to Cambs County Councillors at Shire Hall, Cambridge.
However, a Wisbech-March rail link would only work if it was part of a democratically planned, low fair, publicly-owned transport system.
As a Labour supporter, I call on Ed Miliband to re-nationalise the privatised train and bus companies, with compensation paid only on the basis of proven need. A publicly-owned Wisbech-March rail link would help the economic regeneration of Wisbech by linking it to the successful economy centred on Cambridge.
