I wonder how many people realise some unscrupulous employers are operating what is known as a zero hours contract.

Employees are usually paid the minimum wage with no guarantee of hours or holidays or other benefits. Sometimes there isn’t even a contract and the work is as and when. Health and safety regulations are also being relaxed. There are already too many accidents at work and changing the health and safety at work rules will make it worse. On top of this, it will be easier for employers to sack workers who then find it difficult to claim wrongful dismissal if they feel they have been incorrectly dismissed.
