Shocked at the loss of friends

Have your say

WHAT a terrible shock to open your paper (Citizen November 11) and read that Vera Wiser-Loots had died in the car crash on the A47 that last week and that she was on her way to grieve with the son of her friend Saskia Wykes, who had just died.

Two friends, two lovely ladies gone within moments.

As a friend of over 40 years I knew that Saskia was seriously ill - Vera had told me - but to lose them both was unbelievable.

They had been members of March Operatic in the late Sixties/early Seventies.

Vera was a leading dancer from 1967 to 1971 in shows such as Summer Song, Land of Smiles and Rose Marie. Saskia was our choreographer from 1966 to 1969, for New Moon and the shows listed above.

Then, for 1970 and 1971, with Oklahoma and Desert Song, she was both producer and choreographer. Such talent.

We, members and audiences alike, all owe them a great debt for the pleasure that they brought to our lives.

Not just in March and Wisbech, but in all the villages around.

Thank you Saskia and Vera.

May proud and happy memories sustain their loved ones in their loss.
