WISBECH TOWN will be playing their football at Fenland Park again next season and manager Roy McManus seems certain to remain in charge.
The club's directors met on Monday when a representative for Purple Investments, the buyers of Fenland Park, was also present to make their decision.

It had looked as though this Saturday's encounter with Woodbridge Town would be last game at the
ground as moves were made to ground share with several clubs. March, Downham and Outwell were all possibilities but all drew blanks for various reasons.

The move to Outwell had even been looked at by Ridgeons League officials but planning permission for changes at the Cambs League club scuppered the move because of the timescale.

Wisbech chairman Barry Carter said after the meeting: “We will be starting next season at Fenland Park and remain there for as long it takes to get the new ground ready.

"We are due to receive the money from Purple Investments in two months time and after that we will have to pay a rent on the ground.

“We have an agreement to stay there until the end of the season if necessary.”

The club have to try and obtain the various grants available and in most cases the club have to complete this before anything can be done at the new Lynn Road ground.

Carter also confirmed that McManus had been approached to stay in charge next season and added: “We are very pleased with the job Roy has done since taking over.

“But for the results in the first 10 weeks of the season we could have been a top six side. We have a squad of mostly young local players and they can only improve.”

Carter also said that no decision had been made on a reserve side next season but it seems likely it will be dropped.

McManus said: "I have been asked to stay on and will make my decision before Saturday's game so all the players know at the presentation night."

There is no doubt McManus has enjoyed being back at the helm this season and he is well pleased with the reaction from his playing squad. It will certainly be very hard to walk away and I am sure he won't.
