MARCH Boxing Club have two members through to the next round of the Golden Gloves finals in Romford on Saturday, February 13.
Charley Stevens proved too good for Ipswich's Barry McKeon in the 59kg category in the Eastern Counties Schoolboy finals at Sudbury and Danny Hedges received a bye.

Although Mckeon, a strong lad, came looking for Stevens, it was March lad who had
all the answers to take a points verdict.

Conor Crosby started slowly in his bout against Southend's Polkinghall but did much better in rounds two and three to make it a very close contest but the Southend lad got the verdict on points.

Brother Luke Crosby lost the first two rounds against Harwich's Dorah but staged a remarkable comeback in the last round but it came just too late to take the verdict and he lost on points.

March's Ambrose Draper also lost a very close bout against Centurion's Green on points.

CYP CHAMPIONSHIPS

Chatteris Boxing Club started 2010 in the CYP UK Championships at Chevelton - with one bout contested and a walk-overs in two other bouts. However the night finished with one loss, one champion; and one finalist for a championship next week .

Jordon Tilsley lost his Under 75 kg fight against B Woodens of Chevelton on points. Club trainer Paul Gill said his man fought very well but was not quite good enough on the night.

Jordon Gill became the 60 kg Class 'A' Eastern Area Champion, with a walk-over after his opponent turned the fight down.

It is possible for Jordon to contest the Eastern Counties Zone Championship at Billericay on February 13 after a possible catchweight fight this coming Saturday.

Richard Caluanan became a finalist for the Eastern area 57 kg Class 'B' Championship with a walk-over when his opponent failed to make the weight.

Richard will contest the final at Hadenham next week when he will meet J Avenell of Harwich.

* Wisbech's Eli Frankham has received a bye into the next round of the championships.

Frankham is training with the Gt Britain squad later this week and will join up for training with the England team at Aldershot on February 14.

* For all boxing fans, Chatteris have another Big Fight Night booked for Saturday, May 22.
