WISBECH TOWN boss Steve Taylor is keen to strengthen his side before Saturday's FA Cup encounter with Mildenhall Town at Fenland Park with the signing of another striker.
Taylor is chasing an ex-professional to give him more firepower up front but was not prepared to reveal the player's name at present but said:"He did have a short spell at Wisbech and hopefully we can sort things out for him to be involved in Saturda
y's cup game."
"I think we need a bit more strength up front to go alongside Nick Impey and Billy Smith."
Taylor's move for new players follows the long-term injury to Mark Jimson and the departure of Danny Jezeph and he may also bring in another midfielder in time.
"We only have a small squad at the moment and we need a couple of signings to bring it up to strength."
Stuart Ablett resumes training this week after a hamstring injury and Taylor hopes he will be fit for Saturday's game too.
Mildenhall have started the season in top form but came back to earth with a 3-0 defeat against Harwich on Saturday after scoring 12 goals in their first two league wins.
Their last visit to Fenland Park in the FA Cup two seasons ago ended in a 4-1 defeat and Taylor halted their cup run last season when in charge of Haverhill, who also beat them in the league cup.
That should be enough to make Midenhall a little apprehensive about their trip to Fenland Park.
Taylor, who watched them in action against Tiptree last night said: "I know how to beat them and if we can defend well and improve our home form I think we will have a good chance."
*Danny Jezeph has been released by Wisbech Town after failing to attend the game at Norwich United in the FA Cup replay last Tuesday night.
Taylor said: "He also refused to play for the Reserves and a decision was made by myself to release him after Saturday."
Jezeph made just one start for the club in the opening game against Tiptree and did not make any impact in that game and has been used as a substitute since then.
