They pull the pints, they write the letters and they cut the grass - three of March Town Cricket Club's essential backroom staff have been made life members of the club.
Bar chairman Nick Lowe, club secretary Stephen Wallis and ground chairman John West were all awarded the top honour at the club's recent annual meeting.

Lowe has been involved in running the bar voluntarily for 18 years and a club member for 25 ye
ars. He is a former umpire and scorer and has always shown a great interest in youth cricket.

Wallis is a club trustee, Sunday seconds captain, and an opening batsman for over 30 years. He now follows his father Mike, a former club captain and chairman, into the ranks of the life members.

John West is in charge of the ground, which is no mean feat with Cambridgeshire often playing two Minor Counties Championship games and a one-day MCC Trophy fixture per year. He has been a club member for over 40 years and is a former thirds skipper.

Current club chairman, Les Mills said: "Running a big club is like running a business these days - you need dedicated people in the front line jobs. The hours of work put in by Nick, Stephen and John is countless - all three of them so richly deserve this honour."

Chris Ringham will again captain March first team next season on Saturday and Sundays.
