WISBECH Town manager Roy McManus has insisted he is yet to make a decision on his future at the club after their final game victory at home to Woodbridge on Saturday.
McManus, who has led his side to a run of 14 games with only three defeats, was also full of praise for his players after they turned their season around to stave off relegation and finish joint 11th.
“I’m very pleased and I just need to decide wh
at’s going to happen now. I’d like to stay on and I spoke to the chairman on Saturday and he said he thought everything was okay and hoping for me to stay on.
“I appreciate that because they’ve kept the club afloat this season. I need to know how the structure’s going to be and how we are going to go about things,” said McManus
One of the things that could sway McManus’ decision is the status of the reserve team next season. The club will be having another meeting this week where the situation is set to be discussed once again.
An announcement had been made that the reserves team will not exist next season, but with the club now committed to stay at Fenland Park for another season, it’s possible the decision could change.
Speaking about the season, he added: “It’s been a remarkable turn around since October when we were down in the dumps.”
McManus also said he hoped to keep many of the players for next season and added he would be disappointed if any of the team choose to leave the club for a lower division team.
The RECL League Management Committee have confirmed the 2008/09 Ridgeons Eastern Counties League season will commence Saturday, August 9 this year and end on Saturday, May 2, 2009.
