JEFF Fitt has resigned as a director of Wisbech Town after less than a year in the job.
He said: “I have fulfilled the jobs I undertook when taking over from John Petch – seeing through the sale of Fenland Park and getting the planning permission for the new ground.

“I run my own building firm and would like to put in a tender for the work on the new ground, but do not feel I could do this while still on the board.

“So I have had to distance myself from the club for the moment. I have however still been actively involved working for the club and over the weekend was at Outwell to prepare the ground for the cables for the six floodlights to be erected there.

Chairman Barry Carter paid tribute to the work done by Fitt. “Without Jeff’s expertise we would not have got to the position we are in. He has worked very hard and is continuing to help with the move to Outwell,” he said.

Wisbech expect to have a temporary stand by the end of August and have it erected before the first home league game at Outwell towards the end of September.
