Exciting racing at first summer meeting

It was the first meeting of the summer championship for Wisbech and District Kart Racing Club at Christchurch on Sunday.
The weather was good until a burst of rain made the racing that bit more exciting as the track became more slippery.

The 70c junior class saw Scott White take first place and 98 points, second was Craig Nicholls on 84 points and a third for Harry
Hensby on 82 points.

The 90cc junior first place went to Ben Golding on 92 points while a close second was Josh Kierman on 90 points and coming in third was George Carter on 78 points.

The 125cc juniors saw a good first place win and 80 points go to James Fisher, second with 78 points was Ashley Hornigold and a third place again for George Carter(74points), whilst racing in amongst these were the 100cc karts of Thomas Mack (96 points) and Marcus Pett (76 points).

The senior 125cc class saw new member Robert Kingham take a first and 72 points, second went to chairman Tim Carter (66 points) and a good third for Andrew Brunton (64 points).

The 4 strokes was won by the shared kart of Richard Ward and Stuart Hall on 96 points. The 250cc senior class was Marcus Hudson taking first and the maximum 100 points. Second in was Andrew Leech on 82 points and Simon Ward a solid third and 56 points.

The junior allcomers was split into two separate races as there was a big entry and the winners were Ben Golding and Luke Manders.The senior allcomers race was won by Andrew Brunton and mechanics was Kevin Swann. Junior of the day was awarded to Lauren Flowers in kart 99.

The club also gave out trophies for their winter series that was held at King's Lynn.The overall 70cc winner was Harry Hensby with Craig Nicholls second and Ti Burt third.

The 90cc first place went to Ben Golding while George Carter and Josh Kierman took second and third.

The junior 125cc first place was Ashley Hornigold, then second for George Carter and James Fisher a third.

The 125cc seniors saw Joe Carter take first, Tim Carter second and Rachel Russell third.The 250cc seniors winner was Karl Fisher, second up Darren Fendley and a third for Simon Ward. Trophies also went to Thomas Mack (100cc), John Davis (4 stroke) and Steve Elson (175cc).

The next grass meeting will be at Christchurch on Sunday, May 18.The club welcomes all drivers old and new whilst anyone wishing to sponsor the trophies please contact Tim or Trudy on 01945-773178.

The club are also pleased to announce they will be hosting the first British Grass Kart Championship on Sunday, June 29.
