PARSON DROVE manager Nick Markillie was left scratching his head when his side drew their third Peterborough Premier Division game in a row after a 2-2 result at Alconbury on Saturday.
Drove have led in all of those games and really should have had a nine-point haul instead of three and ironically had not drawn a game all season before this run.

They went 1-0 down on Saturday after 35 minutes when Michael Cozens' attempt to fin
d Gary Hancock with a back pass fell short and an Alconbury player stole in to score.

A minute later, however, Drove were back on terms when Cozens made amends with a good ball through for Scott McManus to score.

Soon after, James McManus supplied brother Scott with a second goal and Drove appeared in the driving set.

They really should have made sure of the points early in the second half when James Clark hit the post and paid dearly for that miss soon after.

Stand-in keeper Gary Hancock's clearance went straight to an Alconbury player who sent the ball goalwards only for Jamie Muffet to handle on the line. The Drove defender was sent off and Alconbury equalised from the penalty spot.

Alconbury also had a player sent off for a punch on Scott McManus but Drove could not find a winner although they were denied with a fantastic save with a minute left.

Markillie said: "Three draws and we could have won them all. I suppose I would have taken a point before the game."

Wimblington put up a good performance to lose out 1-0 at title contenders Rutland Rangers and might have nicked a point.

The winning goal came after 20 minutes and Wimblington boss Chris Bartlett said: "We put in a good shift in defence especially as we were missing James McKew. Richard Parrish reverted to full back and had a very good game.

"We had our share of possession but made some wrong decisions in the final third otherwise we might have got a draw. Lee Brownlow returned in goal and gave us plenty of confidence and new signing Jim Smith came on for the last 20 minutes and did well."

Leverington lost 2-1 at Coates but manager Wayne Garner felt it was much better performance than last week's cup defeat.

Coates took the lead through former Guyhirn player Simon Bates but Eddie Gachette equalised from the penalty spot after Dean Jimson had been brought down.

Leverington looked the better team in the second half but it was another former Guyhirn player Mark Newton who hit the winner for Coates.

Manea United breezed into the PFA Junior Cup semi-finals with a 6-1 win at Benwick Athletic.

They led 2-0 at the break and were 5-0 up when Benwick player-manager Stu Coles scored.

Manea's goals came from a Ben Green hat-trick, Kevin Goude, Jack Corbitt and Rob Spendelow who had a very good game for the winners.
