THE Hares grabbed a point with an 80th minute goal from Luke Pepper but manager Jamie Weston could only describe his team's performance as awful.
This was a game that he expected to collect the three points and maintain their push for a top four p
lacing in Ridgeons League Division One but his side never rose to the challenge.
They went a goal down after 20 minutes when not for the first time this season a simple long ball down the middle left them in disarray and a home forward took the chance to beat Dan Heath.
There were few chances for March in the first half and the nearest they came to scoring was when Luke Pepper forced a good save from former March keeper Lee Brookes.
After the break Denny Escorcio had a half chance and Ash Brand was left one on one with Brookes but once again the former March man came out on top.
With defeat staring them in the face March were awarded a free kick in the 80th minute and Marc Welcher found the head of Pepper at the far post and finally Brookes was beaten with a smart header.
In the last 10 minutes March did put some pressure on for the winner but were reduced to half chances and the game fizzled out to a tame draw.
Weston said: "It was not the best of games and we were awful. Then once again we were undone by a long punt down the middle for their goal."
March: Dan Heath, Lewis Cook, Rogan McGeorge, Adam Sutton, Craig Norman, James Richardson, Luke Pepper, Marc Welcher, Ash Brand, Lee White, Denny Escorcio. Subs used: Michael Anker, Andy Bryan, Rory Parker.
Weston is hoping to have midfield pair Gary Roddis and Harry Roe back for Saturday's trip to Ipswich Wanderers.
He commented: "It is another game we are expected to win against a team near the foot of the table.
"Hopefully we can get the right reaction after Saturday's poor performance."
Appeals to the league to have the away game at Clacton switched to a weekend have failed and March travel there next Tuesday night.
"It is certainly not ideal but we will just have to get on with it. Players will have to take time off work to make the trip and we will have to see what strength of side we can put out," said Weston.
